Dr. Joseph P. Hornberger has practiced in Sarasota since 1986. He earned highest honors with a Bachelor of Science degree from Central State University where he attended on a full gymnastic scholarship and a Master of Science degree from the University of Dayton where he served as a graduate assistant. His Doctor of Chiropractic degree was earned Magna Cum Laude at Life University. While there, he also developed and instructed their Exercise Science course and contributed to the Exercise Science Master’s Degree program.
He was selected by the Atlanta Chiropractic Sports Committee to treat athletes at the 1996 Olympic Games. In addition to having published numerous articles, Dr. Hornberger was a contributing author in Rehabilitation Guidelines of Chiropractic and Conservative Management of Sports Injuries.
Dr. Hornberger was a post-graduate faculty member of five chiropractic colleges. He has taught continuing education seminars in Exercise Physiology and Therapeutic Exercise in several states. He was an advisory board member of the Florida Chiropractic Association’s Rehab Committee and the Chiropractic Rehabilitation Association.
He was awarded the Florida Southwest Chiropractic Society Civic Award for his contributions to the chiropractic profession and served as the Medical Director and Chiropractic Physician for the Sarasota Ballet of Florida. He is a consultant to athletic and rehabilitation programs throughout the country including Culbertson’s Gymnastique, an Olympic-style gymnastic club where he also coached in before he became a chiropractic physician. Dr. Hornberger served as the Chiropractic Director for the Florida State Senior Games Championships, Florida Sunshine State Games, and Florida State Gymnastic Championships.
Michael J. Hornberger, BS, DC, is a graduate of Life University of Chiropractic and is board certified in chiropractic and physiotherapy. He graduated summa cum laude and his national board scores were in the top 2% of U.S. chiropractors.
In 2015, Dr. Hornberger joined the Hornberger Wellness & Chiropractic Center – a practice serving Sarasota for over 30 years. He is trained to help all age groups: pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Dr. Hornberger also enjoys working with pregnant women, auto accident victims, and sports injury cases.
His approach is to find the best treatment program for each individual patient. As such, he uses a variety of chiropractic techniques: Diversified, Low Force Adjustments (Activator, Impulse and Torque Release), Thompson, Pierce, Leander, and Cox. Dr. Hornberger also utilizes Webster’s Pediatric and Pregnancy Techniques, physical therapy, and corrective exercises.
